A Promise To Protect by Patricia Bradley, a Mysterious Review.

Review: Former college sweethearts Leigh Somerall and Ben Logan drifted apart after she suddenly left college with no explanation. Ten years later, she returns to Logan Point a widow with a young son and needs Ben's help, in A Promise To Protect, the second romantic suspense thriller in this series by Patricia Bradley.

Ben finished college and followed his father's footsteps as Sheriff of Logan Point. Leigh also finished college, getting a medical degree. She wanted to be near her family roots, and arranged to work in a local hospital emergency room. That also put her near her brother Tony, who she was determined to get to know better. But that wasn't to be, as he is shot and critically wounded. Before he dies, he tells Ben to watch over Leigh and his nephew TJ, and to keep them safe. But safe from whom? Leigh rejects Ben's overtures of protection … until the house she is living in it set ablaze. For the sake of her son, she agrees to move in with Ben's parents even though his father, now severely disabled from a gunshot wound, was the reason she left suddenly so many years ago. But that doesn't stop the threats. Who is this person that wants something from Leigh? And what is it he wants?

There are several compelling mystery subplots in this strong plot- and character-driven storyline. The characters, both primary and secondary, are remarkably drawn and appealing to read about. There are Christian nuances of faith, forgiveness and love, but they by no means detract from the gripping mystery of the story. A Promise To Protect is a clean and meaningful novel, and Patricia Bradley is definitely an author to follow.
