By the time the police find Jane's body, it's too late. Moses has gone on the run, and the police, despite their best efforts, can't track him down.

Chief Inspector Sam Rounder is put in charge of the case, and he soon discovers that there is more to the murder than meets the eye. Jane's death seems to have some connection to York Cemetery, and to a series of mysterious paintings that she completed just before her death.

Complicating Sam's case further is the fact that his brother, private investigator Rick Rounder, has been hired by Moses to prove his innocence. Which brother will be the first to solve the case?
