Nowhere To Turn
A "Hidden Identity" Mystery by Lynette Eason
Review: Danielle "Dani" Harper and her eleven year old deaf son Simon have suffered under years of threats and mistreatment from her husband Kurt, an agent with the FBI. Finally garnering the courage to take her son and leave Kurt she opens his safe, where she knows is enough money to get as far away from him as possible. She decides to take everything in the safe: the money, a gun and other items. The day she leaves him, Kurt is shot and killed, in Nowhere To Turn, the second entry in the Hidden Identity series by Lynette Eason.
Dani believes that she and Simon are now safe. But she hadn't counted on Kurt's brother Stuart's obsession with her. Now that Kurt was dead, Stuart believes she can be his. When Dani tells him to leave her alone, he begins to stalk her. He also knows that what she took from the safe is wanted by some dangerous men, who will stop at nothing, not even murder, to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs. In desperation, Dani contacts Operation Refuge, a private security firm, to help protect her and Simon. Former Marshal Adam Buchanan is assigned to the case. He takes them to a safe house, where they are to remain until new identities can be issued for them after which they can move to a new city and begin new lives. But they are found, and two agents are killed. Who is behind this? What are these men searching for? And will Dani be able to protect her son?
Nowhere To Turn is a suspenseful thriller, with engaging characters that draw the reader deep into the story. Dani and her son Simon are the real stars here. Dani is strong enough the face each setback she encounters, knowing she must do so to protect Simon. Simon, though just 11 years old and deaf and not quite understanding everything that is going on around him, just wants his mom to be safe and will do anything to help make that happen. The storyline has several unexpected twists and turns, but that only makes the outcome all that much more rewarding. This is another outstanding novel from this gifted author.
