Cookie's Case

A Tug Wyler Mystery by Andy Siegel

Cookie's Case by Andy Siegel

Review: Tucker "Tug" Wyler is a lawyer who specializes in personal injury cases and medical malpractices. While meeting with an associate in a stripper club, Tug witnesses the comeback of Cookie, a popular stripper, who was injured while doing an act with a banana. She had slipped and fallen, and required surgery. Although the operation was botched up during surgery, Cookie has returned to her chosen profession wearing a head and neck brace often referred to as a "halo" to prevent any further damage. Tug sees a potential client in need of his services, in Cookie's Case, the second mystery in this series by Andy Siegel.

Cookie agrees to talk to Tug, after which he concludes that not only did she have a sloppy surgeon, she currently has an inept attorney representing her. Tug talks her into allowing him to represent him, but soon thereafter he is accosted by what could only be called a "thug" warning him to stay away from Cookie and to drop any lawsuit he might be thinking of filing. But that is the least of his worries. Another potential client, a third party suing him, and his wife Tyler — Tyler Wyler — on his back about something or another fill his already busy day.

The eclectic cast of characters in Cookie's Case make for a very entertaining read. There isn't much of a typical mystery plot here, no murders, kidnappings, felonies, or any other "serious" crimes, but the storylines in which Tug is involved are interesting and well told. Overall, a nice break from the routine in this often humorous, enjoyable tale.
